Pedal power for residents association patrollers.
The Constantia Village Residents Association (CVRA) received two new bicycles and branded uniforms for their security spotters on Thursday, May 22, from the partnership with FIRZT Realty.
According to property specialist Tracy-Lee Farrel, FIRZT has had a strong presence in the north, and she’s excited to bring their community-focused ethos to the west. They approached CVRA to find out meaningful ways they could assist.
“For us, it’s all about being active and supportive within the communities we work in,” she explains.
For the CVRA, which manages and funds a seven-day-a-week patrol in their area, in addition to the services paid for by individual residents, security is a top priority. According to CVRA chairperson Karen Poole, the spotters serve as the community’s eyes and ears, working closely with residents and security companies to identify suspicious people or vehicles and escalate concerns through various channels to ensure a quick response.
Karen adds that the spotters cover many kilometres annually on their bicycles. The RA also provides them with uniforms to ensure they are easily identifiable and professional in appearance. The FIRZT sponsorship relieves a portion of the RA’s budget, allowing funds to be redirected to other essential community needs.
“We are so grateful to Tracy-Lee for reaching out to us and proposing this partnership,” Karen says. “We look forward to a long and positive relationship with FIRZT.”
The CVRA covers the area bordered by Hendrik Potgieter Road in the north, Wilhelmina Avenue in the south, Christiaan de Wet Road to the west, and Jim Fouché Road in the east.
